Method #1 – Water
Put a tablespoon of the rice you’ve just bought in a glass of water and see if it sinks or floats. Floating rice means that it’s plastic, while organic should sink to the bottom.
Method #2 – Fire
Light a few of the kernels on fire – if they burn, they’re definitely fake and made of plastic.
Method #3 – Mortar and pestle
Crush a small amount of the kernels with a mortar and pestle – organic rice should turn to powder, while the fake will leave yellow stains.
Method #4 – Mold
If the rice you bought catches mold when left in a plastic container for a few days, it’s organic.
These tests are a pretty simple and safe way of telling if the rice you’ve bought is fake or organic. Try them yourself in order to prevent harming your health beyond repair.
