Here’s how to make healthy dehydrated fruits.
When you have a craving for something sweet, dehydrated fruits are a great alternative to sugary snacks.
If you’re battling to loose weight and keep on being tempted by high-sugar and high-fat treats such as chocolate and candy, this might be the recipe for you.
Dehydrated fruits are a great way to satisfy a sugar craving, with the satisfaction of knowing you are only providing your body with a natural sugar hit.
Snacks such as this are widely available from most food stores, but the prices for even a small portion can be very expensive.
This is possibly part of the food companies’ bigger plan to keep ‘healthy’ food in the higher price range to keep us buying up the cheaper, unhealthier foods, but that is another story.
If you want to supplement your diet with these nutritious dehydrated fruits that are great for a snack at awkward times, then why not make them yourself?
There are such things available to buy called ‘food dehydrators’ which will do the job, or the alternative is to make them with one simple tool – your oven.
To dehydrate your fruit, simply wash and slice your desired fruit into fairly thin slices.
Place them spread our on either a wire rack or an oven tray.
The fruits will need to be baked on a low heat, around 130-160 degrees C.
Most fruits will be ready after around 6-8 hours in the oven but harder fruits such as berries will take a little longer.
